Brush Control At The Bluffs ...

The Lordship Improvement Association (LIA) this week is cutting the summer’s excessive growth of vegetation and removing invasive species at the Lordship Bluffs – part of the LIA’s multi-phase brush control program there that’s also clearing the view of Long Island Sound from Park Boulevard between Lordship Road and Spruce Street. This parcel is managed by the LIA in a land trust charged with maintaining, protecting and preserving the Bluffs.

The current project is mulching and trimming vegetation - and removing invasive Japanese knotwood - down to the central path of the nature habitat. It will grow back quickly and be managed. The area from the central path to Russian Beach remains a habitat for wildlife and will be managed selectively. The Pollinator Garden, of course, is not being touched.

The LIA’s environmental, education and community garden projects are entirely funded by contributions from Lordship residents in annual membership/donation drives. This year, if you are not yet one of the 217 households that have donated, please consider doing so! Here’s your link to donating online or by mail: https://bit.ly/LIA-ToDonate

Thanks for your support!
