What is it about raptors – birds of prey like owls and hawks – that fascinates us?

Let’s find out. For real!

On Tuesday night, November 18, the Lordship Improvement Association’s (LIA) Education Committee presents a free program on Migrating Raptors – with live birds – led by Rose Crisci, owner and founder of Blue Moon Raptors, a raptor education and rehabilitation non-profit organization based in Guilford.

The event will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church’s Gilmartin Hall (behind the church) at 651 Stratford Road in Stratford, starting at 6:30 pm.

“The birds I’m bringing are all from this area, but they do migrate further away,” Rose notes.

She adds that the mission at Blue Moon Raptors “is to rehabilitate ill, injured and orphaned birds of prey to return back to their natural habitat, where they will continue to enrich the environment.”

Another goal there is “to share the important role raptors have in our ecosystem to help maintain the balance of nature with educational programs.”

LIA Education Committee Chair Christine Griffin asks attendees to bring a roll of paper towels to donate to Blue Moon Raptors.

And bring your camera!

Note: The all-volunteer, non-profit Lordship Improvement Association (LIA) manages the Lordship Bluffs and Russian Beach through a land trust, sponsors educational events, and created and maintains eight Lordship community gardens.
