Two members have switched roles, and a longtime Lordship resident has joined the Lordship Improvement Association’s (LIA) Board of Governors.

Sue Birge, formerly the LIA’s Treasurer, is now the Burgess, which is the Board position for a member who lives in close proximity to the Lordship Bluffs. And Jane Scofield, formerly the Burgess, is now LIA Treasurer.

Also, earlier this year, Marcella Rooney – a life-long Lordship resident now raising fourth generation Lordship kids - joined the Board as Secretary, following Hans Drenkard’s retirement from that position.

HANS: OUR ‘QUIET HERO’

The Board thanks Hans for being a “Secretary extraordinaire,” accurately recording and keeping the LIA focused on agendas and missions.

And for all of Lordship, Hans is “our quiet hero and role model.”

He is highly active as a leader and volunteer in LIA and environmental projects, including Bluffs plantings and cleanups, special projects like distribution of rain collection barrels, hosting meetings and much, much more. Hans created the ‘Welcome to Lordship’ sign at Ackley Memorial Park, was of major assistance at the LIA’s 2024 100th Anniversary celebration and today is often seen stopping on his daily bicycle ride to pick up trash. Thank you, Hans!

PS: The Board will miss his delicious muffins.

The LIA is an all-volunteer, non-profit land trust, steward of the Lordship Bluffs, Russian Beach and eight community gardens. Thank you for your support of the LIA through volunteering and purchases of the annual fundraising calendar and membership donation renewals. (www.LordshipCT.org)
