Task Force Will Be Created To Explore Options for Golf Carts and Lordship Bluffs

Thank you to ALL who attended the Lordship Improvement Association’s (LIA) May 28 Committees Meeting – and especially to the many speakers who voiced opinions and suggestions regarding the operation and parking of golf carts on the Lordship Bluffs. We also greatly appreciate others who emailed their thoughts to the LIA (LordshipIA@gmail.com) and invite more comments there any time.

As new growth flourishes on the Bluffs now, the meeting’s minutes (https://bit.ly/LIAminutes) outline committee reports about ongoing and future projects on Lordship beautification, environmental and education issues, plus the LIA’s 2026 ‘Lordship by the Sea’ calendar.

Of major interest, of course, is golf carts on the Bluffs. A trial parking plan coordinated by golf cart representatives and the LIA Board was found to be unpopular for its effect on the Bluff’s scenic beauty, and has ended. The policy of “No Motorized Vehicles” on the Bluffs continues, and a task force will be created of Lordship neighbors (not LIA Board members) to further explore options for supporting golf carts and the LIA’s concerns for safety, conservation and insurance.

Golf carts on the bluffs

·         Temporary parking spaces were created as a trial for golf cart supporters in the community

·         After numerous issues raised by the community on both sides of the debate - particularly related to safety, preservation, and aesthetic concerns - the LIA decided to remove the trial parking.

·         Community members shared opinions in an open forum, with 9 speakers in support of a golf cart parking solution on the bluffs and 10 speakers voicing concerns against.

·         The LIA Board agreed to consider a golf cart parking task force to explore the issue and agreed to come back to the community with an update.
