Thank You, Volunteers – YOU Made A Difference Slowing Erosion

At the Lordship Bluffs, erosion from water rushing out of three culverts is being greatly controlled by stones brought from Russian Beach by volunteers on March 29. (Pictured: Bottom of culvert at Maple Street and Park Blvd.)

“Thank you to all volunteers. You made a difference,” says Christine Griffin, chair of the Lordship Improvement Association’s (LIA) Environmental and Education Committee. The LIA sponsored that community project day, when more than 40 volunteers participated in cleaning winter debris from the Bluffs and the erosion control plan.

Next: Volunteers will be appreciated for Russian Beach Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 3. This will be followed by twice monthly workgroups (dates to be announced) in the LIA’s Bluffs Restoration Project. You can just show up to help, or volunteer in advance by writing to LordshipIA@gmail.com.

Note: Prior to May 3, volunteers will be identifying native and invasive plants that are returning to the Bluffs slope. Project details: https://bit.ly/BluffsRestoration

We greatly appreciate the many who’ve already volunteered!

Many thanks to LIA volunteers and to LIA for its watchfulness on ecological conditions in our community.
