Can you spare a few hours this Sunday (March 29) to help neighbors in projects to preserve the Lordship Bluffs? It’s the year’s first work party of the LIA’s multi-year Lordship Bluffs Restoration Project.
We’ll meet at the Lordship Bluffs on Park Blvd. at the foot of Victoria Lawn at 11 am, and conclude by 1 pm. The weather forecast is full sun and a balmy low 40s.
“We need to address several issues before growth happens on the Bluffs slopes and paths,” explains Emily Viner, coordinator of the restoration project. These are:
· Bringing rocks from the beach to fill in culvert depressions to prevent erosion, and to line path borders to prevent damage to prickly pear cactus.
· Repairing snow fences.
· Winter debris and trash pickup
About 15 to 20 volunteers would be ideal for these tasks. If possible, please bring a wagon or wheel barrow to help move rocks up from the beach. And of course, wear gloves. We’ll supply bags for trash pickup.
