A memorial bench on Stratford’s Lordship Bluffs was struck by a vehicle and damaged Sunday night. Police were notified early Monday morning, and residents are asked to contact Stratford Police with information about the vandalism, including video from security cameras. Please contact Officer Herbert, Case # 26-901, Therbert@townofstratford.com.

Operation of motorized vehicles is prohibited on the Bluffs, which is maintained by the LIA through a land trust. The nearly 10-acre property along Park Boulevard overlooking Long Island Sound is popular with walkers and families, featuring memorial benches, gardens and iconic flagpole.

The damaged bench is at the foot of Laurel Street. The impact from the vehicle severed the thick metal bench from legs that are anchored in cement.

“Fortunately, no individuals or animals were injured in this incident,” the LIA notes. “Please work with the LIA to hold the driver of the vehicle accountable, and to help continue efforts to keep the Bluffs safe.” www.LordshipCT.org.
