WEEDING THE POLLINATOR GARDEN – MORE BORDER STONES APPRECIATED

Weeds were cleared today from the Pollinator Garden at the Lordship Bluffs, revealing a continuing vibrant, sustainable habitat for bees and butterflies.

Created and maintained by the Lordship Improvement Association’s (LIA) Education and Environment Committee, the garden is located at the foot of the Laurel Street stairs to Russian Beach – an ideal spot for migratory species to linger on during their journeys. It’s comprised of many special plants (see https://bit.ly/LIAPollinatorGarden) and watered only by Mother Nature. But committee members DO pull the weeds.

Committee Chair Christine Griffin notes that during today’s work some cabbage white and Atlantis fritillary butterflies were noticed. And she thanks the “wonderful people who are bringing stones (up from the beach) for our border. Please continue to do that.

“We are also hoping that whoever accidentally knocked over two posts along the path to the beach will come and place them back in the ground,” she adds.

“Thank you for helping us sustain our environment.”
